Creating Reports

Our reporting platform is the coolest thing about Sparrow. To get started creating reports, there are a few things you'll want to make sure you take care of first.

If you haven't yet, be sure to install our Google Workspace add-on

You will need to connect your Google Drive as a destination before you can create any reports

Once you've taken care of those first two steps, you'll be ready to create your first report.

Select a template

The first thing you'll need to do is select a template to use. We've created a couple of free templates you can use, but you can always create your own template with our add-on. All publicly available templates can be found on the templates page within the Sparrow web app. When you click on the template you'll be able to see a live preview of the template.

Once you've selected a template, you'll have the option to add the required data sources and select the time range for the data pulled.

For example, if you selected an Instagram template, then you would need to select an Instagram source from your active workspace, and then the date range you want to pull data for (Last 28 days, Last month, etc.).

On the next screen, you'll need to select which format you want your report to be exported to, and where you want the final report saved.

If you select Slides as your export type, you will have the option to modify the template and view your inserted sources after it's been created, so we definitely recommend going with that. Otherwise, you can export the template as PDF or PPTX to ensure you have the report in the format you need.

The destination drop-down is the list of folders you've connected to Sparrow. You'll need to select a destination so we know where to save your created report.

And that's it! Depending on how big the template is, it can sometimes take up to 20 seconds for the report to generate.

Pro tip: Found a template you like but it's not exactly what you want? If you generate a report from the template, you'll be able to edit the new document via our add-on and save it as a new template in Sparrow. 🤓
